Innovative Strategies for atopic dermatitis: Management and prevention

Dr. Archhana Gulur

Atopic dermatitis, often referred to as eczema, is a chronic disease that causes inflammation, redness, and irritation of the skin. It is mostly managed with lifestyle modifications, allergen avoidance, emollients, mild to moderate corticosteroids, and topical calcineurin inhibitors. Dietary management with tailored charts also plays a key role. Biologics or systemic immunosuppressants are rarely needed, as non-systemic treatments and trigger avoidance effectively control symptoms in most cases.
