Sunscreen plays a critical role in protecting the skin against harmful ultraviolet (UV) radiation and forms an essential component of comprehensive sun protection. With increasing exposure to social media trends promoting tanning and prolonged sun exposure, the importance of educating patients about proper sunscreen use has become more relevant than ever. Despite widespread awareness regarding sun safety, studies continue to show that sunscreen is often applied inadequately, leading to insufficient protection against skin damage, photo ageing, and skin cancers.

Importance of Sunscreen in Dermatological Protection

Excessive exposure to UV radiation is a major environmental risk factor for both melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancers. Regular sunscreen use has been shown to reduce the incidence of these malignancies.
