Hair follicle miniaturization is the hallmark of androgenetic alopecia, and timely intervention plays a crucial role in preserving hair density. From a clinician’s perspective, treatment strategies differ based on the stage of miniaturization. In the early stages, when follicles are still viable, therapies such as topical or oral minoxidil, anti-androgen treatments, and supportive measures can help reverse follicular shrinkage and stimulate regrowth. However, in advanced stages, where prolonged miniaturization has led to significant follicular damage, treatment focuses on stabilizing further loss, maximizing the function of remaining follicles, and considering procedural options such as platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy or hair transplantation. Early diagnosis and individualized treatment planning are therefore essential to achieve the best long-term outcomes for patients experiencing hair loss.
