This case–control study of 100 acne patients and 100 controls found that individuals with acne had significantly higher neuroticism and lower extraversion scores. They also showed reduced self-esteem compared to controls, highlighting the psychological impact of acne vulgaris.
This study found that CO₂ fractional laser and microneedling pretreatment significantly enhanced the efficacy of ALA-PDT in moderate to severe acne. The CO₂ laser group showed the highest effectiveness (88%), better outcomes than microneedling (62%) and control (36%), with no serious side effects or recurrence after 12 weeks.
This study found that the vitamin D receptor (VDR)-FokI CC genotype has a protective effect against acne and seborrhea in women with PCOS. It also showed that VDR gene variants, particularly the VDR-TaqI dominant genotype, were associated with reduced oxidative stress and may influence the role of vitamin D in PCOS-related skin manifestations.
This case-control study found no significant difference in ADHD prevalence or scores between individuals with and without acne vulgaris. ADHD frequency was slightly higher in younger patients, women, and those with severe acne, but not statistically significant.
